September 2023 Updates
A few quick updates I want to share with subscribers to this newsletter:
1. I was recently a guest on The Liberated Healer podcast. If you would like to listen, here’s an Apple Podcast link, and here’s a Spotify link.
One of the topics we touch on is a dilemma that goes along with having a spiritual teacher. If you already have all the answers, you won’t get the benefits teachers can offer. On the other hand, if you simply accept a teacher's answers, you can easily be led astray. How can this tension be managed?
2. If you haven’t read my book, A Beginner’s Guide to Advanced Spirituality, an edited and condensed version of the first half of the book was just published here. If you would like a taste of the book before making the leap to purchase, this is the most extensive excerpt available.
3. It’s been a little over a year since the book was first published. The author journey has been a fun ride. The book has received four awards:
Winner of the 2022 Best Book Award in the Spirituality: Inspirational category.
Winner of the 2022 Best Indie Book Award in the Nonfiction: Spirituality category
Finalist for a 2022 Wishing Shelf Book Award
Finalist for a 2022 Foreword INDIE book award
The accolades are nice, but I find it most gratifying to hear from people about their experience of reading the book. For me, the real value of the awards is that they might entice more people to become readers. With that in mind…
4. I have two events taking place in October:
I’ll be at the JCC of MetroWest in West Orange, NJ on Wednesday, October 4 at 1:00 p.m. You can register for that event here.
I’ll be at the Collingswood Book Festival which will take place in Collingswood,
NJ on October 7th. I’ll have the good fortune of sharing a festival booth with my mother, who recently published Seeking Shelter: Memoir of a Jewish Girlhood in Wartime Britain. The book recounts her experiences of growing up in England during WWII. Festival details can be found here.
If you come to either event, please let me know that we’re connected via this newsletter. I’d love to say hello face to face.
